We know about the scope and dangers of the climate crisis. Yet, our actions do not seem to be in accordance with this knowledge. Why is this? In this session, intellectuals and economists from across the globe discuss our cultural inability to understand the actual scale of the climate crisis and its consequences. How can we initiate the collective action it takes to transform our economy and society? And how do we move beyond the limitations of the humanist perspective and imagine a humankind that is re-integrated into the boundaries of the ecosystem? The conversation between the Indian intellectual Amitav Ghosh and CEO of GLOBE International Malini Mehra is followed by a reflection with RSA chief executive Matthew Taylor and economist Ann Pettifor.
