ASCP Webinar: Smoke screen: A novel approach to promoting smoke free pregnancy

Presenter: Nancy Westcott, Manager Statewide Smoking Cessation Program, Alcohol and Drug Service, Tasmanian Health Service A Quality Improvement Activity undertaken by the Smoking Cessation Program at the Royal Hobart Hospital that involved carbon monoxide monitoring, demonstrated an eight-fold increase in referral of pregnant women to cessation services. This enabled funding to be secured for an ethics approved, one-year pilot project (the first of its kind in Australia) to explore the effectiveness on an opt-out routine CO monitoring model within a Midwifery Group Practice cohort of 500 women.
